ldh's review Take a genius director (Mel Brooks), and a team of genius comedic actors (Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Gene Wilder), and you get the classic masterpiece such as Young Frankenstein (1974). Take away the director, and you get a mess. This film has its charms, and a few funny scenes, but it feels like the it never knows when to stop and move on to the next setup. Many scene overstay their welcome by a long mile and the pacing is horrible. Gene Wilder's first film as a director is a mix of genius and failure that unfortunately doesn't come out alive. - Laurent Hasson |
