I watch some 400 to 500 movies a year. I consume movies, with a strong focus on foreign fares (mostly Asian) and off-beat oddities. I built this site to keep track of my DVD collection, write reviews, maintain a blog where i write weekly about the US Box office numbers and various movie-related news, keep track of every movie i watch, collect DVD covers and set-up virtual shelves and so on. RatingMovies.ComŽ was born and grew from there.

I made all those sophisticated tools available to anybody so you can do all of this too. This is a site for film and DVD enthusiasts (i.e. freaks) where you can build your own communities, with your very own movie and dvd lists, reviews, blogs and RSS feed, mailing lists, a home page like this one, and even keep track of movies your friends borrowed from you.

I am French, born in Paris. I moved to North America in September 1989 and have lived in New York and Toronto since then. I now live in New York, the most amazing city on earth. I started to get the Movie bug at 14. At that time, i was part of a clique of movie nuts. We would go see 3-4 movies in a row on weekends. Between 1984 and 1987, i saw almost every single movie that came out in Paris. It was great. In 1985, i built a BBS where we would post mini-reviews of movies coming out each week. I am now older, and a software architect at a leading tech company. with two young kids and a hectic work schedule, you'd think my crazy movie days are over right? Not a chance.

I watch on average about 400 to 500 movies a year and maintain this site for which i am the main contributor of news and movie reviews. I love emerging Cinema and i have been crazy about Asian films for the past 15 years or so. In the 90's, it was all about Hong Kong and mainland China. Today, i am simply crazy about South Korean films, and Israeli and Thai films are on the rise too. And of course, you'll always have Japan. My tastes generally gravitate towards movies with great visuals and music and i have a weakness for twisted films with a hint of perversion, whether they are horror films or not.
